Hyde Park was established in 1892 by a number of prominent businessmen in Cincinnati who wanted to create a community specifically designed for the cityās wealthy residents. The neighborhood was named after and inspired by the lifestyle of New Yorkās vibrant Hyde Park area. The men purchased all the land in the area now known as Hyde Park and carefully began shaping the community. They even monitored the prospective residents, selling only to the buyers they deemed suitable for the lifestyle they were crafting. Hyde Park was annexed by the City of Cincinnati in November of 1903, becoming its own independent neighborhood.
